Where the Soul Goes (魂の行方 , Tamashii no Yukue lit."The Soul's Whereabouts") is the twenty-seventh episode of Wolf's Rain and the first OVA. The OVA/episode did not air in Japan, but was released on DVD with the remaining 3 OVA/episodes. The OVA was aired in the United States on September 25th, 2004.
Summary[]
Cheza tries to heal the wounded Hige, with moderate success.
Blue is almost overrun by a car, but Quent shoves her away and is hit in her stead.
Cher and Hubb go on with an abandoned military car.
Cher and Hubb come across Blue and Quent and decide to pick them up. Blue sits in the back of the car with Quent, watching over him as he drifts in and out of consciousness.
Then they meet the wolves and Cheza, shortly after, Hige breaks down. They continue their journey together in the car, but the ground, damaged by meteor strikes, gives way and Cher is killed.
Hubb puts Cher to rest in the fridges waters, watching her as she sinks into the blue abyss. Hubb then swears to accompany the wolves to Paradise.

- This episode marks the first death of a main character.
- Cher's funeral is a reference to the game Final Fantasy VII where Cloud buried Aeris in a nearby lake.
